Treatment with your health in mind
Patients who have high blood pressure, especially in dentistry, have to be very careful on the treatment that you are providing. And this is in terms of even just giving something anesthetic, as their blood pressure can even spike even higher. With careful consideration and in contact with a doctor, we make sure any treatment that we prescribe is going to last as long as possible and is going to make you healthy.
With high blood pressure, you are also so prone to more, you know, infections and gum disease, and it’s our job to make sure that you’re healthy by having healthy oral bacteria. It’s going to give you a healthy body and helping you regulate your blood pressure as well. People with high blood pressure do get sedation dentistry.
Now, we do contact your medical professionals as well. At Gentle Smiles of Livonia, we make sure that every step that we take is in consideration with your health. We are always contacted with your PCP to make sure any treatment that we prescribe is safe as possible, and we’re offering the most smooth recovery as well.
With sedation, we actually are able to lower your blood pressure, and so you are able to get the treatment that you need, as sometimes your blood pressure can even spike if you have some fear of dentistry as well. So with sedation, we are able to keep you anxiety-free, relaxed as possible, and get the treatment that you want to get. Any sedation options, whether it’s oral sedation, laughing gas, or even IV sedation, can always help regulate the blood pressure, especially if you have some fear of dentistry or any aesthetic materials that we use.
We want to be able to keep you as comfortable as possible, as there can be a greater spike in blood pressure. With laughing gas, it can elevate the dental anxiety and help maintain and monitor your blood pressure, making sure that the medications that you’re taking also are properly working. I’ve had some medications, I’ve sent them back to their doctor because I can see that their pressure is still high, even when the medications they’re still on are supposed to reduce that.
With dentistry, we take your blood pressure at any appointment, whether it’s through cleaning, simple fillings, any extractions to make sure everything is properly regulated, and if there are any foreign issues, we’re able to contact another healthcare professional so you can get all the possible care.
